3m Automotive Biography
The 3M Automotive Division manufactures and markets over 1,000 products for automotive OEMs and tier suppliers, including: adhesive and tape attachment systems; catalytic converter mat mounts and insulation; paint replacement and protection films; acoustic insulation and NVH products; light management films; and consumables used in assembly plants.

Adhesive systems include 3M™ Pressure Sensitive Acrylic Foam Tapes for exterior attachment of body side moldings, fascia trim strips, claddings, emblems and other exterior trim. The line also includes specialized heat-activated attachment tapes for automotive seals and weatherstrip. Other products include 3M™ Structural Bonding Adhesives and Tapes, 3M™ Fastener Adhesives and Sealants, and 3M™ Interam® Mat Mounts and Insulation for catalytic converters (automotive/light duty and diesel/commercial vehicle).

Thinsulate™ Acoustic Insulation, damping tapes, foams and more offer a wide range of solutions for NVH challenges. Manufacturing consumable products from across the company are also sold into assembly plants; these include abrasives, masking tapes, filtration systems, temporary protective products, and worker safety products for eye, hearing and respiratory protection.
